Wood Co - WOOD, Luman D. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 1213 Luman D. WOOD, engineer, Marshfield [Wood County, Wisconsin], was born 20 March 1848 at Brownstown [Wayne County], Michigan, son of Edmond and Huldah WOOD. His father, who was a master mechanic and millwright, moved to Wisconsin in 1851 and settled at Omro [Winnebago County], where he lived until 1861, then moved to Berlin [Green Lake County, Wisconsin] until 1876, and then to California. Luman D. WOOD enlisted in February 1864 in Company F, Third Wisconsin Volunteers, and on 28 June 1865 received his discharge. He was detailed as hospital steward most of the time while in the army. After the war Luman D. WOOD worked with his father as a carpenter, then learned engineering. In 1871 he [Luman D. WOOD] married Miss Matilda RUMBLE, of Uniontown [Fayette County], Pennsylvania. They [Luman D. and Matilda (RUMBLE) WOOD] have one child living, Ida. Mr. WOOD is a member of the Temple of Honor, and is also a member of the Good Templars. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
