D., physician and surgeon, Marshfield [Marshfield Township, Wood County, Wisconsin], was born 04 October 1845 at Bargenten [?], in Mechlenburg Schwerin [the Grand Duchy of Mecklenberg-Schwerin], a son of August and Mary (SCHMIDT) SCHNEIDER, who are still living in the old country. He attended the public schools of his native town, then the university at Berlin [Germany] for a while. He served four years in the hospital service in the army, then at a school in Rosstock [Rostock District, in Mecklenburg-Schwerin], after which he studied and practiced medicine with Dr. SCHENEN, of the city of Magin [?]. Charles SCHNEIDER came to the United States in 1873, and located in the city of New York, then into the country near there, and in 1876 came to Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin], lived there about two years, then to Delafield, Waukesha County, and to Longwood [Longwood Township, Clark County], and in June 1880 came to Marshfield [Wood County]. On 15 October 1880 he [Charles SCHNEIDER] was married to Miss Demarest LUMBERT, of Marshfield [Wood County, Wisconsin]. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
