WI BIO - Wood Co - REYNOLDS, Lewis History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 1215 Lewis REYNOLDS, of the firm of R. Connor & Company, Marshfield [Wood County, Wisconsin], son of Alfred H. and Ann REYNOLDS, was born 17 December 1853 in North East Hope, Perth County, Canada West, and lived there until 1865, when his father moved to Brandon [Buchanan County], Iowa. In 1875 Lewis REYNOLDS came to Auburndale [a village incorporated 24 May 1881, in Auburndale Township, Wood County, Wisconsin; Auburndale Township is located twenty-three miles northwest of what is now Wisconsin Rapids, but was then still the separate communities of Centralia and Grand Rapids] as agent at the depot [of the Wisconsin Central Railroad, incorporated in 1871 and built through this region in September 1871], then connected with the firm of R. Connor & Company, and was principally engaged in the company's store. Mr. REYNOLDs has been town Clerk of Auburndale, and is now Justice of the Peace. [A story on the history of Auburndale in the 23 August 1923 issue of the "Marshfield Journal" notes that "Louis REYNOLDS," who may be the same person, was elected one of two trustees for the village Auburndale at the first election of village officers on 24 June 1881.] Submitted by Cathy Kubly
