SHARP, filer for B. and Company [could be Buckstaff or Beach, both prominent names in lumbering in the Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, area at that time], was born in 1837 in Stueben County, New York. From there he moved to Wisconsin in 1856, locating at Oshkosh [Winnebago County]. He commenced sawing in a mill, which he followed some four years, then commenced filing, which he has followed since in the employ of different firms. He was away five winters in a saw mill near Fort Howard [in Brown County, Wisconsin; on the Fox River]. In 1861 in Oshkosh [Winnebago County, Wisconsin], Mr. [George T.] SHARP was married to Miss Olive SKINNER of Onondaga County, New York. In 1864 in Oshkosh Mr. SHARP enlisted [in the Civil War] as a mechanic, and was engaged four months in bridge building, etc. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
