WI BIO - Winnebago Co - SEAVER, Calvin W. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, v II, p 1178 Calvin W. SEAVER, boots and shoes [Neenah, Winnebago County, Wisconsin], was born 04 October 1818 in Chautauqua County, New York. He commenced clerking in Chautauqua County, New York, and from there went to Dunkirk [Chautauqua County], New York, and to Bertrand [Berrien County], Michigan, and Rochester [Monroe County], New York, and other places. He finally located in business for himself in Findlay [Hancock County], Ohio, keeping a general store, where he remained about two years. Mr. SEAVER then moved to Wisconsin, locating in Rock County, remaining only about one year [ten years?], then opened a hardware store in Janesville, Wisconsin. [Since Janesville is also in Rock County, Wisconsin, then he lived in Rock County more than one year.] Ten years later he moved to Fond du Lac [Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin], engaged in the boot and shoe business, and was there twelve years, with the exception of one year spent in Chicago [Cook County, Illinois]. In 1880 Mr. SEAVER came to Neenah [Winnebago County, Wisconsin], and for a time he also had a store in Menasha [just north of Neenah], but finally closed the Menasha store. In Genesee County, New York, he [Calvin W. SEAVER] was married to Miss Catherine TAYLOR, of Genesee County [New York]. In August 1880 she [Catherine (TAYLOR) SEAVER] died, leaving three children [issue of Calvin W. and Catherine (TAYLOR) SEAVER]: (1) William W.; (2) Kate, now Mr. George H. PATTY, of Fond du Lac [Wisconsin]; and (3) Alice, widow of F. CLARK, of Fond du Lac. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
