WI BIO - Winnebago Co - SCHRAGE, Frank A. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, v II, p 1183 Frank A. SCHRAGE was born 16 August 1825 in Westphalia, Prussia. He came to the United States in 1843 and located in Baltimore [City of Baltimore, Maryland]. In 1845 he moved to Wisconsin, located in Milwaukee [Milwaukee County], and was there several years, studying under Bishop HENNI. He then moved to Rochester [Monroe County], New York, where he was employed in the dry goods business. In 1858 he came to Menasha, and was engaged in hotel keeping up to 1879. In Racine [Racine County], Wisconsin, he [Frank A. SCHRAGE] was married to [his first wife] Miss Catherine SCHOTT, of Washington County [Wisconsin]. She [Catherine (SCHOTT) SCHRAGE] died, leaving seven children [the issue of Frank A. and Catherine (SCHOTT) SCHRAGE]: Frank, George, Edward H., August H., Charlie H., Matilda, and Mary M. In 1874 in Menasha [Winnebago County, Wisconsin] he [Frank A. SCHRAGE] was married to [his second wife] Miss Maggie DERFEES, of Washington County, Wisconsin. They [Frank A. and Maggie (DERFEES) SCHRAGE] have two children: Hattie Bell, and Levrette Otto. Mr. SCHRAGE is a member of the Concordia Society. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
