J. F. W. SCHMIDT, drug store proprietor, was born 15 December 1850 in 
Prussia. He came to the United States with his parents in 1855. They 
settled in Dodge County, Wisconsin. Mr. [J. F. W.] SCHMIDT came to Oshkosh 
in 1868, and clerked in a drug store. In 1874 he commenced business for 
himself.

On 24 February 1874 in Oshkosh [Winnebago County, Wisconsin] he [J. F. W. 
SCHMIDT] was married to Miss Bertha VOIGHT, of Oshkosh. They [J. F. W. and 
Bertha (VOIGHT) SCHMIDT] have two children: Clara and Hugo. Mr. SCHMIDT is 
a member of Union Lodge, No. 179, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and of 
the Turnverein [a German social club].
