RUSSELL, physician and surgeon, was born 19 April 1827 at Bethel, Windsor County, Vermont. In 1843 he commenced the study of medicine in his native town with Dr. Harry PALMER, and attended a course of lectures at the Vermont Medical College the same year. Later T. P. RUSSELL continued his studies with Professor W. CARPENTER at Randolph, Orange County, Vermont, and in 1850 and 1851 he resumed his studies at the Vermont Medical College, graduating from that institution in 1851. He practiced for two years at Weston, Windsor County, Vermont, and in 1854 came to Oshkosh [Winnebago County, Wisconsin], where he has since continued in practice, except for a period of two years during the War of the Rebellion. He was for one year in active service as Surgeon of the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry, and for nearly a year he was incapacitated from duty by reason of sickness. On 08 January 1856 at Oshkosh [Winnebago County, Wisconsin] he [T. P. RUSSELL] was married to Sophia EDGARTON [a maiden name?], who was born at Madison, Madison County, New York. They [T. P. and Sophia RUSSELL] have one child living, Thomas C., and have lost two children.
