WI BIO - Winnebago Co - ROENITZ, Henry History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 1162 Henry ROENITZ, of the firm of Jaenicke & Roenitz, was born 01 July 1856 in Sheboygan [Sheboygan County], Wisconsin. He spent his school days in Sheboygan until 1870, and then went to Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, and attended the Business College. He returned to Sheboygan, served his time as tanner and learned the leather trade. In 1876 Mr. ROENITZ visited Europe and inspected the tanneries in different portions of that country, with a view of gaining a better knowledge of the business. He returned in October 1876, and came to Oshkosh and began business in July 1877, the firm now doing a large and increasing business. The firm of Jaenicke & Roenitz are dealers and manufacturers of all grades of leather, consisting of harness and shoe leather, etc., the business being established in 1861 at 43 Main Street in Oshkosh.
