Windsor PARKER, Henry J. Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. PARKER, of Andover [Windsor County, Vermont], was born 02 May 1836 in Plainfield [Sullivan County], New Hampshire, son of Benjamin and Betsey (FULLAM) PARKER. After attending the common schools, he continued his education at the Wesleyan Seminary of Springfield, and the Kimball Union Academy of Meriden [Sullivan County], New Hampshire. In the spring of 1855 he found employment in Boston [Suffolk County], Massachusetts, as a bookkeeper, but soon went to Ottawa [La Salle County], Illinois, where he obtained his living by teaching and also served as a clerk in various establishments for four years, when he returned to Springfield [Windsor County, Vermont]. In response to the call for volunteers to serve for nine months, he [Henry J. PARKER] enlisted 01 September 1862 in Company H, Sixteenth Regiment, from the town of Weston [Windsor County, Vermont] and was mustered out with that command. After his return from the scenes of the struggle, he purchased an estate in Andover [Windsor County, Vermont] and this has since been his residence. He has made many improvements in the property, making a specialty of dairy produce and maple sugar. For a quarter of a century Mr. PARKER has been the general state agent for the Granite State Mowing Machine Company, of Hinsdale [Cheshire County], New Hampshire, and has traveled several years in the interests of A. P. Fuller & Company, dealers in granite and marble. He was one of the incorporators and a trustee of the Chester Savings Bank and since its formation director and treasurer of the Andover Dairy Association. Republican; has held nearly all the positions of trust and responsibility in the town, which he represented in 1874. Fourteen years later he was called to a seat in the Senate from Windsor County. Both these positions he filled with dignity and credit. On 09 November 1859 he [Henry J.
