Educated at grammar and high school, Middleboro, Massachusetts, and Dartmouth Medical School in 1885. Was employed at the State hospital at Tewksbury [Middlesex County], Massachusetts, from January 1885 to July 1887, and has since practiced at Whitman, Massachusetts. Republican; was President of the Plymouth County Republican Club in 1900, and was chairman of the Whitman board of health nine years, when he became selectman and overseer of the poor, holding that office since 1907; town physician and medical inspector; and was U. S. examining surgeon at Brockton [Plymouth County, Massachusetts] from 1900 to 1902. Episcopalian. Member of Puritan Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons; Pilgrim Royal Arch Chapter; Abington Council, Royal and Select Masons; Old Colony Commandery, Knights Templar; Aleppo Temple, Mystic Shrine, Boston; Plymouth Rock No. 43, Knights of Pythias; Webster Lodge No. 113, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Middlesex Club of Boston; Commercial Club of Brockton; Massachusetts Medical Society; Massachusetts Society of Medical Examiners, and Hatherly Medical Society; Sons of American Revolution; and a member of the Dartmouth Alumni Association. In 1889 Dr. [Charles Edward] LOVELL married [Miss?] Eugenia F.
