Elwin LeRoy INGALLS, superintendent of schools, Hartford [Windsor County, 
Vermont], was born 23 July 1870 at Berkshire [Franklin County, Vermont], son 
of Norman and Martha (CROWE) INGALLS. Educated in the public schools of 
Berkshire; State Normal School, Johnson [Lamoille County, Vermont], graduate 
class of 1890; Burlington High School [Chittenden County, Vermont], class of 
1892; and University of Vermont, A. B. 1896. Principal of Lamoille Central 
Academy, Hyde Park [Lamoille County, Vermont], 1896-1902; examiner of 
teachers, Lamoille County, 1898-1902; superintendent of Vermont Industrial 
School, Vergennes [Addison County, Vermont], 1902-1907; superintendent of 
schools, Hartford, Hartland and Pomfret Union [Windsor County, Vermont], 
since 1910. Republican. Congregationalist. Member Delta Psi Fraternity, 
University of Vermont; Dorchester Lodge No. 1, Free & Accepted Masons, of 
Vergennes; Jerusalem Chapter No. 2, Vergennes; Mt. Calvary Commandery, 
Knights Templar, No. 1, Middlebury; Myrtle Lodge No. 27, Independent Order of 
Odd Fellows, White River Junction [Windsor County, Vermont]; White River 
Encampment No. 19, White River Junction; Grand Lodge of Vermont, grand 
warden, 1911; president Vermont Union Superintendents Association, 1909-1911; 
president Vermont Schoolmasters Club since 1910; secretary of Green Mountain 
Club, 1910-1911. In 1899 [Elwin LeRoy INGALLS] married [Miss?] Ina Evelyn 
CAMPBELL, of West Charleston [Orleans County, Vermont]; they had one son, 
Henry Campbell (deceased).
