Educated at the public schools. Has been a farmer, music teacher, mechanic, constable and collector, justice of the peace, and evangelist in the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Is a Methodist clergyman; has been pastor of churches in Vermont in Washington County (Worcester), Franklin County (St. Albans Bay, Georgia, North Fairfax, Fairfax, West Berkshire, East Franklin, South Franklin, West Enosburg), Chittenden County (Milton), Windsor County (Windsor), Orange County (Waits River, Newbury, Topsham), and Rutland County (Pittsfield). Is a Prohibitionist. Chaplain of the Vermont House of Representatives 1910. Member of the Masonic Order; Independent Order of Odd Fellows; and Good Templars. In 1856 he [Alvin Wilbur FORD] married [Miss?] Jane E. MORRIS of Rochester [Windsor County, Vermont]; she [Jane E. FORD] died in 1875; they had three children: Wesley A.; Julius W.; and Minna J.
