ENGLISH, rural mail carrier, Woodstock, was born 18 December 1841 at Woodstock [Windsor County, Vermont], son of Henry W. and Eliza Ann (STEELE) ENGLISH. Educated in the public schools and Green Mountain Perkins Academy. Has been a farmer and miller; rural mail carrier since 1903. Enlisted in Company B, Twelfth Vermont Infantry; was mustered out 14 July 1863, by expiration of his term of enlistment; was in the battle of Gettysburg. Republican; represented Woodstock in the Legislature, 1892; has been justice of the peace for many years. Treasurer of Windsor County Agricultural Society for eleven years. Member and clerk of the Christian Church of Woodstock for many years. Member of George C. Randall Post No. 82, Grand Army of the Republic. In 1869 he [Charles H. ENGLISH] married [Miss?] Lizzie M. VAUGHAN of Woodstock; she [Lizzie M. ENGLISH] died in 1878; they had two sons, Fred S. and Lewis W. In 1882 Mr. [Charles H.] ENGLISH married [Miss?] Nellie E.
