Bertrand Arza CHAPMAN, physician, Springfield [Windsor County, Vermont], was 
born 22 August 1868 at Ludlow [Windsor County, Vermont], son of William H. H. 
and Emily (SMITH) CHAPMAN. He attended the district school at South Hill, 
and the Black River Academy. He then secured a position in Channing's 
private hospital in Boston [Suffolk County], Massachusetts, earning money to 
take his medical course at Dartmouth College, from which he graduated in 
1895. Since graduation, Dr. CHAPMAN has practiced continuously in 
Springfield [Windsor County, Vermont], making a specialty of anesthetics; 
also eye, ear, nose and throat. Republican. Member of the Methodist 
Episcopal Church. In 1906 Dr. [Bertrand Arza] CHAPMAN married [Miss?] 
Blanche HENDERSON of Worchester [Middlesex County], Massachusetts; they have 
two children: Bertrand W., and Eleanor A.
