Windsor CAMPBELL, Wallace H. Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, p 58 Wallace H. CAMPBELL, of Rochester [Windsor County, Vermont], was born 18 July 1854 in Brockton [Plymouth County], Massachusetts, son of George M. and Philette (PEARSONS) CAMPBELL. George M. CAMPBELL was a native of Vermont, to which state he returned before his son was one year old. Wallace H. was educated at the common schools of Rochester and at Springfield Academy. Bereft of paternal guidance by the death of his father, he carried on the old homestead at the age of eighteen. [Therefore, by calculation, George M. CAMPBELL died before 18 July 1872.] He then emigrated to California and remained there three years as foreman in an establishment for reducing gold ore. In 1879 he returned to Rochester, where he engaged in the hardware business for ten years with great success. On 10 September 1882 Mr. [Wallace H.] CAMPBELL married Eva, daughter of Orlando and Helen (STERLING) KENEDY [spelled with one "N" in the text] of Granville [Addison County, Vermont]. The fruits of this marriage are: (1) Leon; (2) Adolph, who died in infancy; (3) Helen Catherine; and (4) Jessie. Member of the Republican party; has been six years a member of the town committee and justice of the peace; was town representative in 1892-1893, a school director, and sugar inspector of Rochester. Member of the Masonic order, belonging to Rural Lodge of Rochester, to Whitney Chapter Royal Arch Masons, and the Montpelier Commandery of Knights Templar. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
