Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, p 128-129 Henry Thomas BROWN, merchant, Ludlow [Windsor County, Vermont], was born 14 July 1868 in Plymouth [Windsor County, Vermont], son of James Smith and Polly Maria (TAYLOR) BROWN. Educated in the public schools, and Black River Academy [Ludlow]. In 1898 in company with Frank HOWARD purchased the hardware business of W. D. BALL at Ludlow, which they continued under the firm name of Howard & Brown; in 1905 purchased Mr. HOWARD's interest; has dealt considerably in real estate, especially pulp and timber lands. Mr. BROWN is a Republican; represented Ludlow in the Legislature 1908; has been trustee and water commissioner of village of Ludlow, and held other town and village offices. In 1890 he [Henry Thomas BROWN] married [Miss?] Anna May GOULD of Ludlow [Ludlow, Windsor County, Vermont]; they have one daughter, Rae Marguerite. Mr. BROWN is trustee and treasurer of the Universalist Church. Past noble grand of Altimont Lodge No. 30, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; member of S. G. Putnam Encampment No. 8, I. O .O. F.; Mizpah Rebekah Lodge No. 29, I. O. O. F.; past master of Black River Lodge No. 85, Free & Accepted Masons; at present king of Okemo Chapter No. 28, Royal Arch Masons; member Vermont Commandery, No. 4, Knights Templar; the Mystic Schrine; the Literary Club; Board of Trade; Vermont Historical Society; and Vermont Fish and Game Club.
