Burlington, Ullery, 1912, p 105 Volney Chauncey BABCOCK, Stowe [Lamoille County, Vermont], farmer, was born 14 May 1833 at Bridgewater [Windsor County, Vermont], son of Chauncey and Sally (BARROWS) BABCOCK. Educated in the public schools. Followed farming until twenty-one years of age; then employed at wheelwright and cabinet work; Postmaster in Bridgewater, 1880-1896; also carried on mercantile and wheelwright business. Enlisted in Company E, Thirteenth Vermont Regiment Volunteer Infantry; mustered into service October 1862; owing to illness did not leave the state; was in hospital at Brattleboro eight weeks; discharged by reason of disability. Republican. Represented Bridgewater in the Legislature, 1900. In 1855 Volney Chauncey BABCOCK [first] married [Miss?] Harriet E. BARROWS of Stowe; they had one daughter, Mary A. On 20 March 1902 he married [second] Carrie M. ROBINSON [a maiden name?] of Stowe. On 12 May 1910 he married [Miss?] Abbie M. MINOR, of Woodbury [Washington County, Vermont].
