Windsor County ARNOLD, Fred Men of Vermont: an Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters and Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro, VT: Transcript Pub. Co., 1894, Part II, p 9 (portrait p 9) Fred ARNOLD, of Bethel [Windsor County, Vermont], was born 07 December 1856 in Randolph [Orange County, Vermont]. After receiving his education in the common schools and the Randolph State Normal School, he adopted the profession of the law, and since 1880 has pursued that vocation in Bethel, combining his practice with the occupation of an insurance agent. In both of these pursuits he has met with gratifying success. His business ability and undoubted integrity have called him to many positions of honor and usefulness in the town, which he represented in the General Assembly in 1892. In this body he was an able and earnest advocate of the town system of schools, and was largely instrumental in the establishment of that important measure throughout the state. On 17 October 1882 Fred ARNOLD was wedded to Martha P., daughter of Amos and Nancy WHITE of Providence [Providence County], Rhode Island. Six children have been the issue of the union, five boys and one girl. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
