Windham PIER, Frederick Baldwin Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, p 313 Frederick Baldwin PIER, of Rawsonville [Windham County, Vermont], was born 26 July 1847 in Westford [Chittenden County, Vermont], son of Rev. Orvis and Eunice (SMITH) PIER. He received his early education at the common schools and graduated from the Black River Academy, at Ludlow [Windsor County, Vermont], in 1864. He then learned the trade of carpenter in Jamaica [Windham County, Vermont], which he followed for eleven years. In 1875 he established himself as a merchant in Rawsonville, where he has since resided. In 1877, through the unremitting work of Mr. PIER, the government established a post office in the place, and he has since been postmaster. At the age of twenty-five he was elected justice of the peace, and has since continuously held the position, while his ability and energy have called him to various other posts of trust and responsibility. On 02 January 1868 at Bondville [Bennington County, Vermont], Mr. [Frederick Baldwin] PIER married Helen A., daughter of Charles R. and Faustina (BARRUS) WILLIAMS.
