Windham KINGSLEY, Jerome Orlando Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, pp 236-237 Jerome Orlando KINGSLEY, of Athens [Windham County, Vermont], was born 29 September 1822 in South Woodstock [Windsor County, Vermont], son of Billy Gray and Lucy (PALMER) KINGSLEY. Receiving a limited education in the district and select schools of South Woodstock, he lived at home until he was twenty-six years of age, teaching in district schools during the winter and laboring on the farm in summer. In 1849 he went to Plymouth [Windsor County, Vermont] and bought a farm, where he lived eleven years, during which period he held the offices of first selectman and superintendent of schools for three and four years, respectively. In 1860 he sold his farm property and purchased an estate in Chester [Windsor County, Vermont] in 1861, where he remained for seven years, until 1868, acting as selectman during two years of his residence in that place. He then sold his farm and removed to Athens, where he has since lived. In 1870 he was the delegate from Athens to the Constitutional Convention, and represented the town in 1870 and 1884. He has discharged the duties of lister and justice of the peace, and selectman for several years. On 29 March 1849 Mr. [Jerome Orlando] KINGSLEY was married to Angeline E., daughter of John and Rebecca (EATON) SARGENT. Of this union there was one child, Eugene S. His [Jerome's] wife [Angeline E.
