HUBBARD, editor and publisher, Brattleboro [Windham County, Vermont], was born 06 June 1867 at Guilford [Windham County, Vermont], son of John E. and Mary L. (SMITH) HUBBARD. He graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1885. Learned the printer's trade in the office of the Vermont "Phoenix." Was local editor of that paper 1888-1895, managing editor 1895-1910, and has been editor, publisher, and proprietor since 01 March 1910. Republican; has taken an active part in the affairs of the Republican party, has been secretary of the county, congressional district, and state conventions. In religious belief a Universalist. Is a member of Columbian Lodge No. 36, Free & Accepted Masons; Fort Dummer Royal Arch Mason chapter; Connecticut Valley Council; Beauseant Commandery, Knights Templar; and Windsor Lodge of Perfection, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Is also a member of the Vermont Wheel Club; Brattleboro Board of Trade; past master of Columbian Lodge, and is a past prelate of the Beauseant Commandery.
