Educated at Westminster public schools, Vermont Academy, and at University of New York, medical department, M. D. 1882. Practiced medicine in New York from 1882-1884; at Westminster West from 1884-1887; at Alstead [Cheshire County], New Hampshire, 1887-1890; studied in New York and abroad 1890-1891; has been in practice at Bellows Falls since 1892. Director Brattleboro Trust Company; member Vermont State Medical Society, president one year. Republican; was senator from Windham County, 1898; member second congressional district Republican committee for ten years; secretary of state board of examiners of embalmers; member of school board in Alstead and Westminster; bailiff and trustee of Bellows Falls village corporation five years. Is deacon in the Congregational Church. Member of King Solomon's Temple Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons; Abenaqui Chapter; Holy Cross Commandery; has been grand commander Knights Templar; member of Mt. Sinai Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles the Mystic Shrine; Vermont Consistory; has been grand patron of Order of Eastern Star of Vermont; is a member of Bellows Falls Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
