(BIRCHARD) DeWITT. Educated in the public schools of Elyria, and Eastman's Business College. Has been employed twenty-eight years in the Newfane Savings Bank, the first fourteen as assistant treasurer, and since then as treasurer. Republican; has been town treasurer since 1899; member of the school board 1905-1910; town auditor 1896-1899; moderator 1911; county auditor since 1898; represented Newfane in the Legislature 1910. Congregationalist. Past master Blazing Star Lodge No. 23, Free & Accepted Masons, of Townshend [Windham County]; member of Fort Dummer Chapter No. 12, Royal Arch Masons; Mt. Sinai Temple, Mystic Shrine; Newfane Lodge No. 72, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, chaplain for the past three years; past master Newfane Grange, treasurer of Grange five years; trustee and treasurer of the Moore Free Library Association since 1902.
