Educated in Landgrove [Bennington County, Vermont] public schools and Chester Central High School [Windsor County]. Taught school in Brookline, Townshend, Newfane, and Wardsboro [all in Windham County]. Has conducted the Windham County House at Newfane since 15 December 1905, with the exception of one and a half years. Also engages in farming and lumbering. Republican; deputy sheriff since 1906; deputy jailor Windham County jail three and a half years; trustee of Newfane village corporation two years; chief of police two years. Member of Newfane Lodge No. 72, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; West River Rebekah Lodge No. 61 of Newfane; Oasis Encampment No. 5, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of Brattleboro [Windham County]; has held minor offices in the Order of Odd Fellows; district deputy grand master two years; member of Blazing Star Lodge No. 23, Free & Accepted Masons, of Townshend [Windham County].
