Educated at Manchester [Hillsborough County], New Hampshire, public schools; Black River Academy, Ludlow [Windsor County, Vermont]; Dartmouth College, 1898. He was proprietor of the "Vermont Tribune," Ludlow, 1899-1903; treasurer and manager Vermont Printing Company ("Brattleboro Reformer") 1903 to date; business has quadrupled and now employs fifty persons. An independent Republican; Congregationalist. Trustee, Brooks Free Library; member Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity; Sphinx Club of Dartmouth College; Brattleboro Lodge No. 102, Free & Accepted Masons; Fort Dummer Chapter No. 12, Royal Arch Masons; Beauseant Commandery No. 7, Knights Templar; and Mt. MASTIN, of St. Johnsbury [Caledonia County, Vermont]; they have two daughters: Elizabeth Mastin and Mary Hitchcock.
