Educated in public schools of Vermont and Nebraska; removed to Nebraska 1886; farming 1892-1896; teacher in Kansas schools 1897; returned to Vermont 1897; assistant town clerk and treasurer, Wilmington, 1898 to date; studied law with his father; admitted to Vermont Bar 1906; chairman Wilmington village trustees 1907-1909; assistant treasurer Wilmington Savings Bank, Jan 1907 to date. On 12 June 1907 he [Don O. BUTTERFIELD] married [Miss?] Alice S. PLIMPTON; they had one daughter, Barbara Grace, who died in infancy. Republican; member Republican town committee, 1904-1910; justice of the peace since 1906; town [of Wilmington] representative in the Legislature, 1910, both father and grandfather in paternal line having formerly represented same town.
