Burlington: Ullery, 1912, p 112 Fletcher K. BARROWS, banker, Brattleboro [Windham County, Vermont], was born 24 January 1852 at Vineyard Haven [Dukes County], Massachusetts, son of Peleg and S. Lavinia (FLETCHER) BARROWS. He was educated at Massachusetts Agricultural College, Amherst [Hampshire County, Massachusetts]. In 1873 he succeeded to coal business of his father, among the earliest coal dealers in Brattleboro; afterwards for twenty-five years a dry goods merchant, retiring from business in 1902; has been trustee Brattleboro Savings Bank since 1894, vice president 1899-1907, president since 1907. In 1877 he [Fletcher K. BARROWS] married Stella E. MARSHALL of Brattleboro. For eight years Mr. BARROWS was an officer of the National Guard of Vermont, first lieutenant Company I, First Regiment, for four years. Politically he is a Republican, and in religious preference, a Universalist. Mr. BARROWS is a member of Columbian Lodge No. 36, Free & Accepted Masons, and is a trustee of Brooks Free Library, Brattleboro. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
