ANDERSON, physician and surgeon, Brattleboro [Windham County, Vermont], was born 14 September 1875 at Plattsburg, [Clinton County], New York, son of Moses R. and Emma (RILEY) ANDERSON. He was educated at Plattsburg High School, Rutland English and Classical Institute, and University of Vermont, A. B. 1898. He began practice in 1898 as assistant surgeon of the First Regiment, Vermont Volunteer Infantry; intern Mary Fletcher Hospital, 1899; practiced in Pittsford [Rutland County, Vermont], 1900; Brattleboro since 1901; major and chief surgeon Medical Department, State of Vermont; attending surgeon, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital; took post graduate courses at New York, Chicago, Rochester, Boston, and Philadelphia. George R. ANDERSON enlisted May 1898 in the First Regiment, Vermont Volunteer Infantry; served as hospital steward and assistant surgeon; discharged November 1898. Republican.
