Burlington: Ullery, 1912, p 94 Edwin Philetus ADAMS, farmer, Marlboro, was born 18 October 1848 at Marlboro [Windham County, Vermont], son of Leander Clark and Augusta Charlotte (MATHER) ADAMS. Educated in the public and select schools of Marlboro. Mr. ADAMS has always followed farming, and came to the farm he now occupies when he was seven years old. He taught school in Marlboro, West Dover, and West Guilford. Mr. ADAMS is a Republican, a selectman in 1878, 1884, 1889 and 1896. He was an auditor many years; lister, school director, town superintendent, treasurer, trustee of public money, town agent, and grand juror. He was town clerk for five years, and justice of the peace for twenty-five years. Mr. ADAMS represented Marlboro in the Legislature in 1884, 1892, 1896, 1902, & 1908; senator from Windham County in 1910. In 1872 Edwin Philetus ADAMS married Minerva E. ADAMS, who died in 1880. They had two sons, Roy Leon and Henry Merle (deceased). In 1882 Mr. ADAMS was married to Ida Estella DALRYMPLE of Halifax, Windham County. They have one son, Gerald Leslie. Mr. ADAMS is a Congregationalist, a member of the standing committee, and deacon for many years. Charter member of Marlboro Grange, and has been master three different periods; now secretary; librarian for a number of years for the Library Association. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
