AUGUST WEGEMANN, proprietor of tannery, and dealer in leather, hides, pelts, etc.; born in Prussia July 8, 1834; came to Lake Mills, this county, in 1849, with his father, John Peter Wegemann, who died in Watertown in 1860. Mr. Wegemann was engaged in farming until 1866, when he came to Watertown; he has been carrying on tannery and leather business since he came here. He has been Alderman and Supervisor here; prior to coming here, he held offices of Supervisor and Treasurer of Concord Township, where he was engaged in farming from 1856 to 1866. He was married in Watertown, in February, 1856, to Paulina Gojady; she was born in Prussia; they have five sons – Albert, Charles, Max, Otto and Arthur; lost four children.
