Myron REED, attorney at law, Waupaca [Waupaca County, Wisconsin], was born 19 September 1838 in Messina, St. Lawrence County, New York. He received a common school education, and a course of instruction at Union Academy, Belleville [Jefferson County], New York, entering the Law School of Albany University in 1857. He was admitted to the bar, upon examination, the following year [1858]. He came to Waupaca, then one-third its present [1881] size, in 1859. The legal lights here at this time were E. L. BROWNE, O. E. DRUITZER and M. H. SESSIONS. Myron REED formed a partnership with M. H. SESSIONS which continued until 1871. Mr. REED has held the positions of Clerk, Supervisor and President of the Village of Waupaca, Alderman and Mayor of the City [Waupaca], and is now Supervisor thereof. In 1871 he was elected State Senator over his partner [M. H. SESSIONS], then the incumbent. Myron REED was renominated at the end of the term, but declined to run for the office. While in the Senate he almost alone secured the adoption of Article Four of the Amendments to the Constitution.
