Fort Atkinson; born in Bavaria Jan. 5, 1847; he is the son of Jacob and Bena Wagner; his father was born in Bavaria Dec. 18, 1811; he was brought up a farmer; at the age of 14, he was left with a widowed mother, of whom he was the only support. Married, in Bavaria, in 1840, Miss Bena Kulls, who was born in Bavaria in 1817; had seven children, four living – Bena, Jacob, Frederick, Catherine. In 1852, he came, with his parents, to Wisconsin; they located in Waukesha Co., where his father bought a farm, to which he devoted time and industry up to the time of his death, in May, 1878. His wife still lives on the old homestead. Jacob lived with, and assisted his parents at farming until 1871. Married in Waukesha Co., Jan. 4, 1871; in the spring of 1871, he and his wife came to Oakland, where he purchased a farm of 120 acres and improved it; raises a variety of crops and native stock.
