WI BIO - Trempealeau Co - RUDOLPH, Henry History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 1050 Henry RUDOLPH, farmer and proprietor of the Trempealeau quarries, P. O. Trempealeau [Trempealeau County, Wisconsin], was born 20 November 1818 in Hanover, Germany, there learned the trade of marble cutting, and was engaged at work on the cathedral at Cologne. He came to the United States in June 1849, and worked at his trade on several of the largest buildings in this country. In 1856 he came to Trempealeau County, and took up a farm on the Black River, afterward going back to Ohio. In 1861 he returned to this place [Trempeauleau] and has made his home ever since in the village of Trempealeau, opening his quarries in 1863. He has furnished and cut building stone for Sparta, La Crosse, Winona and St. Paul. In 1850 Mr. [Henry] RUDOLPH was married to Miss Anna DEUBNER, of Dayton [Montgomery County], Ohio, who was born in Germany. They [Henry and Anna (DEUBNER) RUDOLPH] now have a family of five children: (1) Katie, a teacher in Duluth [St. Louis County, Minnesota]; (2) Lilly, now Mrs. W. J. SHOWERS of Trempealeau [Trempealeau County, Wisconsin]; (3) Emma, also a school teacher at Duluth, Minnesota; (4) Annie; and (5) Adolphus. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
