Milford; born in New London, Conn., April 20, 1842; came to Wisconsin with his father and family in 1854; located in Watertown; in 1856, came to Milford Township. His father, William Torpey, was born in Ireland; came to Wisconsin with wife and three children in 1854; in 1856, bought 120 acres where the family now reside; he died in May, 1862, since which time the farm has been managed by his sons, William and Edward.
