Leon ROY, lumberman, Chelsea [Taylor County, Wisconsin; on the railroad line 
north of Medford], was born 04 June 1853 in Quebec, Canada. In 1870 he went 
to Detroit [Wayne County], Michigan, then to Minnesota, and finally to 
Portage County, Wisconsin. He belonged to a surveying party and located in 
Chelsea [Taylor County], opening a grocery store there, and after a while 
began lumbering. Mr. ROY has been Assessor for the past four years, and 
belongs to the Ancient Order of United Workmen.
