Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 999 Frederick ZIMMERMANN, retired farmer and merchant, Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, was born in Prussia on 24 November 1825. He was employed as a gardener for some years. Mr. ZIMMERMANN came to America on 05 May 1848. He located at town of Wilson, Sheboygan County [Sheboygan County created 07 December 1836, and has had no changes in its borders; Territory of Wisconsin formed 20 April 1836; State of Wisconsin established 20 May 1848, about two weeks after Frederick ZIMMERMANN came to America], and was engaged at farming for fourteen years, and during that time he held the following offices: School Director three years, Town Treasurer two years, Chairman of Board of Supervisors for three years, Town Clerk for one year, and one year Assessor. In the autumn of 1862 Frederick ZIMMERMANN came to the city of Sheboygan. He was elected County Clerk [for Sheboygan County] in 1862; re-elected in 1865, and again elected in 1867. In the spring of 1869 he entered into the boot and shoe business with J. OHDE, and was in that business for four years. Mr. ZIMMERMANN was afterward an insurance agent for four years. Since 1877 he had been engaged on his farm, and during 1880 Frederick ZIMMERMANN was employed as census taker. In September 1852, Frederick ZIMMERMANN was married at Wilson [Chippewa or St. Croix County?], Wisconsin, to Christinia [Christina?] BREHM, who was born in Germany. Frederick and Christinia ZIMMERMANN have five children: Edward, Minnie, William, Bertha, and Amelia. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
