ROENITZ, tanner, Sheboygan [Sheboygan County, Wisconsin], was born 15 May 1823 in Saxony [Germany]. He came to America in 1850, resided six months in Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin], and eighteen months in Racine [Racine County, Wisconsin], and then came to Sheboygan, and with his brother, William, commenced business as tanners in 1853. They continued together until the death of William ROENITZ, in 1873, after which C. T. ROENITZ continued the business alone. On 06 July 1852 in Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin] he [C. T. ROENITZ] was married to [Miss?] Lena MAAS, who was born in Holstein, Germany. They [C. T. and Lena ROENITZ] have five children living: Frank L., Charles H., Emma, Ida, and Louis, and they have lost three children. Mr. [C. T.] ROENITZ has worked at the tanner's trade since he was eighteen years of age. On 01 January 1880 his sons, Frank L. and Charles H., became associated with him in the business.
