Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, pp 221-222 Justus Rogers HOADLEY, insurance; Rutland [Rutland County, Vermont], was born 22 September 1855 at Middletown Springs [Rutland County, Vermont], son of Harvey and Ann Janet (GRAY) HOADLEY. Educated in the public schools, and Cobb's Business College, Painsville [Lake County], Ohio. Began business life at the age of sixteen with A. W. Gray's Sons Company, as engineer and machinist. Came to Rutland in 1879, entering the office of Chester PARMENTER, insurance agent, and has continued in the business since. Has been secretary and manager of the State Mutual Fire Insurance Company since 1888. Independent in politics; served as auditor for the town and village of Rutland from 1885 to 1892, and was alderman of the city of Rutland from 1901 to 1904. Member of the Congregational Church at Rutland, a worker in several committees, and its treasurer since 1905. Past master of Center Lodge No. 34, Free & Accepted Masons; past commander Killington Commandery No. 6, Knights Templar; secretary of Delta Lodge of Perfection, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite.
