Samuel Rollin HITCHCOCK, West Haven, farming and insurance, was born 27 April 
1851 at West Haven [Rutland County, Vermont], son of Rollin and Polly Ann 
(ATWOOD) HITCHCOCK. Educated in the public schools and Collegiate Institute, 
Fort Edward [Washington County], New York. Has been agent for Vermont Fire 
Insurance Company for thirty years. Republican. Represented West Haven in 
the state Legislature 1906; senator from Rutland County 1910; has held most 
of the town offices; at present town clerk and treasurer. Congregationalist. 
Member of West Haven Grange; a director of Rutland County Agricultural 
Society. In 1876 he [Samuel Rollin HITCHCOCK] married [Miss?] Myra TAYLOR, 
of Williamsport [Lycoming County], Pennsylvania; they have one son, Horace 
Rollin.
