Admitted to the bar, Newark [Wayne County], New York, 1881; secretary Lawyers' Cooperative Publishing Company from its organization, two years; practice law and engaged in legal literary work, Chicago and Washington [D. C.], 1883-1889; farming at Pittsford since 1889. Democrat; selectman, Pittsford, three years; lister five years; member state board of agriculture six years, 1901-1906; cattle commission two years, 1901-1902; forestry commissioner two years 1905-1906; member special commission on taxation, 1907-1908; represented Pittsford in the state Legislature 1908; chairman school building committee, Pittsford, 1911.
