HAMILTON, Rutland [Rutland County, Vermont], physician and surgeon, was born 19 June 1868 in Richford [Franklin County, Vermont], son of Dr. Jamin H. and Ellen M. (GOFF) HAMILTON. Educated at Richford and St. Albans High Schools [Franklin County]; academic and medical departments of University of Vermont; and College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, Maryland. Member of attending staff of Rutland Hospital, and district surgeon for Rutland Railroad. Captain and assistant surgeon, and later major and surgeon of First Infantry Vermont Volunteers in the war with Spain; assistant surgeon First Infantry Vermont National Guard before the Spanish-American War. Republican. Member of Protestant Episcopal Church. Member of Rutland Medical and Surgical Reporting Club; ex-president Rutland County Medical and Surgical Society; member Vermont State Medical Society; American Medical Association; New York and New England Association of Railway Surgeons, and fellow of American Academy of Medicine.
