He studied law and was admitted to the Vermont bar in 1898; began practice at Rutland 01 October 1898, continuing to date. Is director and secretary the Rutland Horse Show and Breeders' Association, and secretary of the Rutland County Agricultural Society; secretary and treasurer of the Empire Egg Maker Company, and the Farm Enterprise Publishing Company. Republican; was secretary of the State Senate 1902-1908; judge, Rutland city court, 01 April 1907 to 01 April 1909. Congregationalist. Member of the Vermont Bar Association, Masonic fraternity, Knights of Pythias; secretary, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; master, Patrons of Husbandry 1911-1912; member of the state executive committee.
