SIMON JOHN RICHTER, teacher in Lutheran School; born in the village of Mengelsdorf, near Goerlitz, in the Province of Silesia, Nov. 5, 1850; came to America with his father in January, 1854; located in Houston, Texas, remaining there six months; then they went to Pittsburgh, Penn., where his father died; S. J. Richter remained in Pittsburgh until 1870; attended the parochial school, also the Franklin Public School in that city; then he was a student at the Normal School at Addison, Ill.; for two years he taught at Sheboygan Falls, since then in Watertown; he was a member of the Young Men’s Lyceum for several years. Sept. 9, 1876, he was married, at Beaver Dam, to Miss Ida Nimmer; she was born in Wusterhausen, Prussia; they have one child – Flora Helena Maria, born Jan. 14, 1879.
