WI BIO - Richland Co - WULFING, William History of Crawford & Richland Counties, Wisconsin. Springfield, IL: Union, 1884, p 1182 William WULFING was born near the Rhine River in Prussia, and was bred to mercantile life. He arrived in Richland County, Wisconsin, on 25 May 1849, and soon purchased the west half of the northwest quarter of Section 16, Town 9 North, Range 1 East [Orion Township]. Here he erected a log cabin and commenced pioneer life and continued tilling the soil with considerable success until 1876, when he rented his farm to his son, removed to Richland Center [Richland Centre] and has since given his attention to the office of Justice of the Peace. He is a Democrat in politics, and while a resident of Orion [Orion Township, Richland County, Wisconsin] served as town Treasurer nine years and several terms as Justice of the Peace. On 16 April 1844 he [William WULFING] married Constance SIGRIST [maiden name]. In 1849 he emigrated to the United States and settled as above stated. Mr. and Mrs. WULFING have reared twelve children, ten now living: (1) William, (2) Eugene, (3) Frank, (4) Richard, (5) George; (6) Constance, now the wife of Charles HOOLE; (7) Johanna Maria (Mary Jane), now the wife of Martin Luther BOBB**see note; (8) Henrietta, now the wife of Clark BROWN; (9) Emily, now the wife of Norman BENNETT, and (10) Theodora. [To be added here at a later date, from the 1906 History of Richland County, is the biography of Eugene C.
