WRIGHT, who settled in Richwood, Richwood Township [Richland County, Wisconsin], in 1855, purchased about 300 acres of land and engaged in farming. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted in the service and served as Second Lieutenant until mustered out. In about 1873 he sold his farm and removed to Muscoda [Grant County, Wisconsin]. He afterwards spent three years in the State of Tennessee, when he again settled at Muscoda. Mr. [I. J.] WRIGHT was ordained as a preacher of the Gospel in the United Brethren Church, and for some time served as a circuit preacher, but later in life he only preached on special occasions. He was an influential citizen and served as chairman of the town board for several years. He had considerable knowledge of law and often served his neighbors as a valuable counselor. [To be added here at a later date is the biography of W. C. WRIGHT from the 1906 History of Richland County, who was probably related. W. C. WRIGHT, who was elected Superintendent of Schools in November 1863, at that time residing in Richland Centre, Richland County, was a lawyer.] Mr. [I. J.] WRIGHT was married three times, first to a Miss TONEY, who died, leaving three children. I. J. WRIGHT next married Mrs. Catharine DAVID nee MILLER. She died, leaving two children: (1) Martha, and (2) J. C. The third wife of I. J. WRIGHT was Mrs. Martha HAMIL nee MILLER, she a sister of his former wife. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
