Springfield, IL: Union, 1884, pp 1009-1010 Abraham WOLF, proprietor of drug store and Postmaster at Lone Rock [Buena Vista Township, Richland County, Wisconsin], was born in June 1844 in Wurtemberg, Germany. [Lone Rock is a border community in the southeast corner of Richland County.] When he was [p 1010] three years old, his father, Michael WOLF, emigrated to the United States with his family, and settled in Michigan, where his wife died in 1850. He removed the same year with his family to Dane County, Wisconsin, and in 1857 came to Richland County. Abraham WOLF did not come to Richland County with his father, as at the age of eight years he was bound out to a man by the name of J. G. WALBRIDGE, in whose family he was to reside until eighteen years of age. On 18 October 1861, before Abraham WOLF had attained that age, he enlisted in Company G, Eleventh Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He continued in the army until March 1863, when he was discharged for disability, occasioned by sickness. While in the service he marched through southern Missouri and Arkansas, participated in the battle of Cotton Plant, 07 July 1862. He was with the regiment at Helena, and at Oldtown Landing, on the Mississippi River, where so many of our troops sickened and died. Here he was taken sick, but returned with the regiment to Ironton [Iron County], Missouri, where he was sent to the hospital, and discharged 24 March 1863. Mr. WOLF returned from the army to the town of Ithaca [Richland County, Wisconsin], where his father had settled in 1857. Recovering his health, he re-enlisted 24 August 1864, in Company I, Thirty-eighth Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, joined the army at City Point [Prince George County], Virginia, and was in the trenches in front of Petersburg during the following winter. On 02 April 1865 he took part with the regiment in the charge on Fort Mahone, where he was severely wounded, losing his left leg and the index finger of his right hand. He was discharged in the hospital at Washington [D. C.], 06 September 1865. After Abraham WOLF returned to his father's, in the fall of 1865, he attended school at Sextonville [Richland County, Wisconsin] three terms. He then engaged in teaching school, and taught five terms. In the fall of 1869 he was appointed Postmaster at Lone Rock [Richland County]. In connection with the post office, he kept a book and stationery store. In 1877 he purchased the drug stock of Dr. R. L. TELFAIR. On 11 April 1872 he [Abraham WOLF] married [Miss] Helen A. ALDRICH, daughter of A. A. and Helen C. ALDRICH. They [Abraham and Helen A.
