WI BIO - Richland Co - ROSE, Sidney History of Crawford & Richland Counties, Wisconsin. Springfield: Union, 1884, Part 2, pp 1185-1186 Sidney ROSE, a resident of Henrietta [Henrietta Township, Richland County, Wisconsin], where he owns a farm of 140 acres, was born 20 January 1818 in Oneida County, New York, where he learned the trade of mason. In 1842 he [Sidney ROSE] married [Miss] Caroline S. HAMILTON, daughter of Fillery HAMILTON. In 1844 they [Sidney and Caroline S. (HAMILTON) ROSE came to Wisconsin and lived in Rock County, from whence he came to Richland County in the fall of 1854, and purchased one-half of block 50, and one-half of block 51. There was a house upon this property, which was built by a [p 1186] Mr. HYDE, of whom he purchased it. In 1861 he enlisted and served in the regimental band of the Sixth Wisconsin regiment for eleven months, when that organization disbanded. He has since followed his trade.
