Charles Henry JONES, late of Orleans [Orleans County, Vermont], register of 
probate, was born 09 May 1847 in Coventry [Orleans County, Vermont], died 15 
March 1909; son of Horace S. and Harriet (JOSLYN) JONES. Educated at Derby 
Academy and St. Johnsbury Academy, fitting for Dartmouth College. Read law 
with Hon. L. H. THOMPSON of Irasburg [Orleans County, Vermont], but ill 
health prevented law practice. Was a close student of finance, often writing 
for financial journals; director of Central Savings Bank & Trust Company; and 
left estate to be used for library or hospital at Orleans. Was a Republican; 
a man eloquent in the cause of his friends, but never accepted office for 
himself. In his will left bequest to both Congregational and Methodist 
Church societies. In 1891 [Charles Henry JONES] married [Miss?] Cora G. 
HUMPHREY, of Barnston, Province of Quebec [Canada]; she died the same year 
[1891]. In 1907 [Charles Henry JONES] married [Miss?] Jennie Martha LOCKE, 
of Orleans [which at that time (1907) was still called "Barton Landing," 
Orleans County, Vermont. The name was changed in 1909 to "Orleans," Orleans 
County, Vermont. Note that Charles Henry JONES died the same year the name 
was changed to "Orleans," and thus possibly while it was still "Barton 
Landing."]
