Educated at Derby Academy and St. Johnsbury Academy, fitting for Dartmouth College. Read law with Hon. L. H. THOMPSON of Irasburg [Orleans County, Vermont], but ill health prevented law practice. Was a close student of finance, often writing for financial journals; director of Central Savings Bank & Trust Company; and left estate to be used for library or hospital at Orleans. Was a Republican; a man eloquent in the cause of his friends, but never accepted office for himself. In his will left bequest to both Congregational and Methodist Church societies. In 1891 [Charles Henry JONES] married [Miss?] Cora G. HUMPHREY, of Barnston, Province of Quebec [Canada]; she died the same year [1891]. In 1907 [Charles Henry JONES] married [Miss?] Jennie Martha LOCKE, of Orleans [which at that time (1907) was still called "Barton Landing," Orleans County, Vermont. The name was changed in 1909 to "Orleans," Orleans County, Vermont.
