Co., 1894, part II, p 24 Cromwell Phelps BEAN, of West Glover [Vermont], was born 04 April 1846 in the town of Glover [Orleans County, Vermont], and was the son of Amos Phelps and Phila E. (SARTWELL) BEAN. Educated in the public schools and Orleans Liberal Institute. Since then has cultivated the old homestead; has extensively dealt in farm products; is an extensive breeder of Morgan and George Wilkes horses. Democrat. Has held about every town office; in 1882 with the help of the Republicans, was elected to the Legislature; the first Democrat sent there since his father in 1859. On 22 December 1867 he [Cromwell Phelps BEAN] married Alpa M., daughter of Ira and Lavina (CAMP) EMERY of Burke [Caledonia County, Vermont], by whom he has had two children: Carl W. and Ida L.
